GRADES

Tolko uses a combination of laser technology, visual grading, and communication systems across sites to ensure a consistent grade from every Tolko mill. 

Laser technology grades the most important characteristics – wane and straightness. To ensure all mills are grading the same, all the quality control supervisors and a designated sales person meet at least twice per year to review the grades from each mill. The result – consistent grading.

Tolko grades per the National Lumber Grades Authority (NLGA) standards. In addition, Tolko produces proprietary premium visual structural grades to match the marketplace requirements with our log supply.

Premium Visual Structural Dimension Grades

Tolko’s highest visual structural grade is J-Grade. The lumber is straight, well machined, and wane and stain free. These characteristics vary in the other premium visual grades listed below.

MSR

Tolko MSR lumber is stress rated to ensure minimum strength performance. In addition, the Tolko MSR visual grade rules exceed the prescribed standards.
