forest certification

Tolko is committed to environmental stewardship. We are guided by our Forest Management Principles and Environmental Policy and provide further assurance to our customers and stakeholders through independent 3rd party certification to internationally recognized standards.

TOLKO’S SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT (SFM) CERTIFICATIONS

ISO 14001 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS)

Tolko’s woodlands divisions are certified to the ISO 14001 EMS standard. This internationally accepted system ensures that our forest management operations are conducted under strict rules and procedures in order to protect the environmental values of the forests that we are entrusted to manage.

CSA Z809 / PEFC (SFM)

All of Tolko woodlands tenures are certified to the CSA Z809/PEFC (SFM) standard. CSA Z809 is a world leading national SFM standard with a requirement for comprehensive public involvement during implementation. It is internationally endorsed by the Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) and recognized by governments and customers around the world. In North America, CSA certification provides customers with equivalent, or greater, assurance of sustainable forest management practices as other notable standards such as FSC or SFI.

CHAIN OF CUSTODY (COC)

Tolko’s woodlands operations and manufacturing plants are certified to the PEFC Annex 4 CoC standard. This provides our customers with confidence that the wood used for our forest products is verified from legally authorized and socially acceptable sources.

Did You Know?

CSA uses internationally accredited standards development processes. Products from CSA certified forests can display the PEFC lable. No wood in PEFC certified products can come from controversial sources.
