Thompson-Nicola Woodlands

EMS
Thompson Nicola Woodlands, Heffley Creek piloted the Environmental Management System (EMS) for Tolko in 2000. The Region has maintained it’s registration to this standard sine 2000.

This EMS has now been implemented by all Tolko Woodlands as a platform for managing their environmental processes.

CSA-SFM
Thompson Nicola Woodlands participated in the development of a Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFM) with both Kamloops and Merritt TSA Licensees. The plan was developed through a public advisory process following the Canadian Standards Associations (CSA Z809) certification standards. In the developmental years there were two different plans developed – one for each TSA. By 2003 both parts of the operations were certified to two separate plans. In 2010 the plans from the Kamloops, Merritt and Lillooet TSAs were amalgamated during the re-write of the plan to the new Z808-08 standard. The new plan is known as the Nicola Thompson Fraser SFMP. This plan can be found on www.thompsonokanagansustainableforestry.ca.
