Certification
Virtually all the land Tolko has under forestry tenures are publically owned. That structure of ownership and tenure brings with it a strong social responsibility to manage the forests in a sustainable and transparent manner. This includes being open to scrutiny by the public and other stakeholders.
One way Tolko fulfills these obligations is by achieving and maintaining CSA Z809 Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) certification on all of the forest lands we manage. CSA Z809 is the world’s most successful national SFM standard—due largely to its requirement of a comprehensive Public Advisory process.
We have also completed Chain of Custody (CoC) certification at our woodlands and manufacturing facilities to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Annex 4 standard. Third-party certification of our CoC procedures assures our customers, the public, and other stakeholders that our wood originates from legally harvested and socially acceptable sources.
