Thompson Nicola Woodlands

Thompson/Heffley Creek

EMS
Thompson Nicola Woodlands, Heffley Creek piloted the Environmental Management System (EMS) for Tolko. This process started in 2000 and culminated in July 2001 with registration to the internationally recognized ISO 14001 standard. They have since maintained registration to this standard.

The EMS has now been implemented by all Tolko Woodlands as a platform for managing their environmental processes.

CSA-SFM
Thompson Nicola Woodlands, Heffley Creek participated in the development of a Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFM) with the Kamloops TSA licensees. This plan was developed through a public advisory process following the Canadian Standards Association (CSA Z809) certification standards. Thompson Nicola Woodlands, Heffley Creek was successfully audited by a third party registrar in July, 2002 and achieved certification to this internationally recognized standard. Since their initial registration, they have maintained their certification. The 2010 SFM plan has been rewritten to the new 2008 CSA Z809 standard by the Kamloops Licensees and is posted on www.thompsonokanagansustainableforestry.ca. Nicola

EMS
Nicola achieved registration of their Environmental Management System (EMS) to the internationally recognized ISO 14001 standard after their successful third party audit during February, 2002.

CSA-SFM
Nicola participated in the development of a Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFM) with the Merritt Timber Supply Area (TSA) licensees. This plan was developed through a public advisory process following the Canadian Standards Association (CSA Z809) certification standards.

Nicola was successfully audited by a third party registrar in February, 2003 and has achieved certification to this internationally recognized standard.

Innovative Forest Practices Agreement (IFPA)
Nicola is a member of the Nicola-Similkameen Innovative Forestry Society. The objectives of this society include partnerships with First Nations in developing innovative forest management practices for the Merritt TSA.
